The 2026 Ugly Pants Open had it all, and when the last bad fashion vote was cast and the final scorecard signed, Jeff Cubel stood alone as champion with a dominant four-stroke victory that was never seriously threatened. After his stunning run to the Match Play final just weeks ago, Cubel is making a legitimate case as the hottest player in the Mulligan Tour’s second half of the season.
Cubel was in command from early and stayed there. Five birdies, two eagles, and 61% greens in regulation — a ball-striking performance that turned Brae Burn’s par-70 layout into a personal showcase. The closest anyone got was Phil Parent, who reeled off back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16 to pull within one stroke and briefly make things interesting. Then came hole 18. Sitting 110 yards from the flag, Parent stood over a half wedge with the tournament tantalizingly within reach — and thinned it. The ball skipped off the face of the club, cleared the course boundary, and found the parking lot. By the time the carnage was totaled up, Parent had made triple bogey on the final hole and finished well behind Cubel in the standings. The golf gods are occasionally merciless, and Sunday at Brae Burn was one of those days. Parent did, however, earn the lasting consolation prize of the afternoon — the Ugly Pants Open’s most coveted non-golf award, the Ugliest Attire vote, claiming a $40 discount on his 2027 membership with what was apparently an unforgettable outfit. In this tournament, that’s a trophy worth having.

Helen Puffenberger, Scott Wilsey, and Greg Fobare rounded out the leaderboard, each picking up money in what amounted to a final regular season tuneup before the Division Championships.
