Greg Fobare claimed his fifth win of the 2026 season with a net 70 (-2), doing it the way he’s done everything this year — methodically, efficiently, and without giving the course or the competition a foothold. Five wins. One season. That ties the Mulligan Tour’s single-season wins record, and with the Little Diablo and Ugly Pants still on the regular season schedule before the Division Championships, the record book is within reach.
What made Saturday’s performance at Carrington stand out wasn’t the fireworks — it was the absence of them. Fobare hit 71% of his drives in the fairway, kept himself out of trouble from the opening tee shot, and cashed in with five birdies across the round. No drama, no recovery required, no white-knuckling it to the finish. While others were scrambling, Fobare was simply executing. The contrast with Eric Birkle’s round couldn’t have been sharper. Birkle was a threat all day — three birdies and two eagles is the kind of scoring that wins tournaments — but a double bogey on hole 8 cost him the lead at the worst possible moment, and a stretch of bogeys to open the back nine pushed him further into the black numbers. He climbed back with an eagle on 16 that made the card look respectable, but by then the gap had closed too far for comfort and not far enough for a win.
