Markel a Playoff Winner in the East

Tim Markel got his first career East Division win with a playoff victory over Erika Fitzpatrick. Markel opened his round with a chip in eagle on the first hole and ran to a comfortable front nine lead. But Erika had 5 birdies on the back including 3 in a row to run down the leader and take the event to a playoff, both players finishing at 4 under par 67.  Markel again got out to a lead in the 4 hole aggregate playoff on the first 2 holes and held on for a 1 shot win.  Eric Kiekbusch and Chuck Withey tied for 3rd at 71 even par.

On course prize went to Fitzpatrick and Michael Thacker earned the East Divsion Skins Game invitation.  Notables: In addition to Markel, Nancy Hiestand had a chip-in eagle and Withey and Steven Laing also had chip-ins. Helen Puffenberger hit 12 fairways and Nancy Hiestand hit 11. Fitzpatrick hit 11 greens and totaled 7 birdies while Markel had 5 birdies and 2 eagles. Ned Loving had 6 birdies and finished in the money for his title defense.

Withey adds to his #1 all-time ESCC winnings while Fitzpatrick moves to 3rd and Puffenberger moves to 4th. Fitzpatrick drops to 1-1 in career playoffs.  Markel gets his 13th career win in his 327th start by squaring his playoff record at 2 and 2.
