Klipa Gets 2nd Swig from the Big Cup

Saturday Jeff Klipa joined Greg Paddison as a two-time winner of the Canandian Open. Shooting the same 2 under 70 that won for him in 2018, he out played the top contenders who all suffered a ‘one bad hole’ moment during the day. Klipa led the field with 10 fairways hit and 7 birdies. Rich Dunmore took 2nd at 1 under par 71. Nancy Hiestand and Brian Pieszchala tied for 3rd at Even Par 72.  On course prizes went to Ken Westerman, Nancy Hiestand, Corey McCue and Rookie Steven Laing.

Notables: McCue led the field with 10 greens hit. Hiestand and Chris Stalo led with 29 putts. Scorers included Nancy Hiestand with 6 birdies and an eagle, Stalo and Laing with 6 birdies, and Pieszchala with 5 birdies and an eagle. Chip-ins were recorded by Stalo, Laing, Greg Fobare, Chris Dunmore, Willi Hesse and Bob Delorey. Steven Laing finished in the money for the first time in his rookie season in his 6th start. Nancy Hiestand moved to 4th all-time in Canadian winnings while Jeff Klipa moved to 1st.

Word is that Klipa’s 33rd win in his 471st start, and 3rd win of the season,  was not diminished from a watered down field after the pre-game warm up at Kevin’s Garage.
