After 2 full seasons without a win, Nancy Hiestand is back in form to win the Tee it up for Reese and Brooke CaddyShack Classic. Nancy had 6 birdies and 2 eagles to get to the lead on the back nine and post a number of 6 under par 66. Lance Evert mounted a late charge with a birdie on 17, but dropped back on the final hole to take 2nd at 5 under par 66, in an event where the women’s and men’s par are 72 and 71. Chuck Withey capped a fine weekend with a 4 under par 67 for 3rd. Event host Helen Puffenberger(69) tied Rod ‘Tuna’ Theunissen(68) at 3 under par for 4th place.Â
On course prizes went to The Kipster, Rick Floyd, and Nancy Heistand. Eric Kiekbusch earned the East Skins invitation. Sponsor Helen provided her usual plethora of off course prizes that went to Jeff Pasz, Jeff Klipa, Patrick Patterson, Tuna, Shane Witkowski, Rick Floyd, Willi Hesse, and Jeff Graunke. Notables: Tom W Litzler scorched the back nine with 10 putts for a total of 27. But Ray Collins tied the total 27 with 12 on the back nine. Kevin Gregoire defended his title with 29 putts. Joe Brandenburg had 9 birdies and 2 pars in a roller-coaster round. Puffenberger had 7 birdies and an eagle. Evert and Tuna had 6 and 1. Jeff Pasz had 5 and 1 and Withey had 6 birdies. Puff, Commissioner Dunmore and Paul Parent all had chip-ins. Nancy Hiestand successfully played her way in to the Eastern Championship in 2 weeks, an event she won in 2020.
This is Nancy’s 3rd Tour win and first non-major victory in 62 starts.
