4 seed Tyler Floyd marched thru his bracket with relative ease to get the the Match Play final without playing the 16th, 17th or 18th holes. Tyler got wins over Eric Kiekbusch, defending champ Scott Wilsey and Rich Dunmore. Â Â 2 seed Chris Stalo, on the other hand, ground out 3 tough matches, taking an extra hole to get his first match over 15 seed Noah Kline and winning on the 18th over Tom Moran to get to Sunday and then over Stewart Levine to make the final.Â
In the final, Stalo ground out another match, taking Floyd to the 19th hole before relenting. In the consolation match Stewart Levine concluded an excellent first Match Play effort with a 6 & 5 win over Rich Dunmore who got to Day 2 with a 1 Up win over Willi Hesse and an upset of 1 Seed Brian Lardin in 21 Holes.
Notables: Jeff Feikens and Noah Kline made their Match Play debuts, finding how tough the format is. Bill Gordon continued his role as the designated bye. Helen Puffenberger finished in the money to move to a tie for 4th in all-time Match Play winnings, while Greg Kline extended his all-time $ lead and got his 30th career Match Play win. Tyler Floyd gets win #9 and 2nd Major win in his 105th start.
